Brig. Gen. Andrew M. Niebel, commanding general, Marine Corps Installations East-Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, accompanied by his senior staff, visited Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany as part of his commander's tour, July 21. Niebel assumed command of MCIEAST on June 4. A previous MCIEAST press release stated, "As a dual-hatted commander of the base and regional command supporting five other installations along the Eastern Seaboard, Niebel will be responsible for promoting the combat readiness of the operating forces by providing state of the art training venues, services and support to the 282,000 Marines, Sailors, families, civilian employees and retirees associated with these installations."
