Energy is vital to the Marine Corps – it powers all efforts, from crucial training and logistics on installations, to the warfighter and operating bases in the field. The Marine Corps Energy Ethos is a shared vision that the efficient use of energy resources is a critical component of warfighting readiness.

The Energy Ethos ties together other Marine Corps Installations Command (MCICOM) Facility Operations and Energy Office (GF-1) activities with a central concept of motivating Marines throughout all levels to connect energy use and availability on an installation to warfighting capabilities, cyber security and mission assurance. Marines are known for using only what they need, and energy is no exception. Small things that individual Marines can do across installations to save energy can help an installation stay online and operate mission critical operations when the power goes out.
